On 15 July, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, met with Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the Pope’s Special Envoy for Ukraine.

The discussion focused on the security and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, with particular attention to the return of Ukrainian children unlawfully deported by Russia and the release of Ukrainian civilian detainees. Minister Sybiha expressed his gratitude to Cardinal Zuppi for the Holy See’s continued humanitarian support.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further humanitarian cooperation, particularly in efforts to facilitate the return of Ukrainian children and the release of Ukrainian civilian detainees.
