On May 15, 2026, Ambassador Andrii Yurash participated in the roundtable discussion “Towards Peace in Ukraine and the World: Through Violence and Repression or Through Justice and Democracy?”, held in Palermo as part of the European Week initiatives.
The event was organized with the support of the Parish of Nostra Signora delle Nazioni in San Eugenio Papa and brought together representatives of religious institutions, diplomatic missions, and civil society from Italy, Ukraine, and Lithuania. The discussion was moderated by Antonio Balsamo, President of the Court of Appeal of Palermo.
Participants also included Roman Catholic Archbishop of Odessa-Simferopol Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Holy See Sigita Maslauskaitė-Mažylienė, Regional Prosecutor of the Sicilian Court of Auditors Pino Zingale, Sicilian Order of Journalists Councilor Salvatore Li Castri, as well as members of the Ukrainian community and representatives of Italian institutions.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yurash emphasized the importance of achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole. He stressed that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without restoring justice and upholding the fundamental principles of international law.
During the event, Ambassador Yurash expressed his appreciation to Father Felice Lupo, organizer of the European Week in Palermo, and to the entire parish community for their longstanding support of Ukrainian initiatives and the Ukrainian people.
The discussion highlighted the importance of international solidarity and continued engagement in support of efforts aimed at securing a comprehensive, just, and durable peace for Ukraine.
