On April 29, a Ukrainian delegation of the International Organization of Disabled Persons and Victims of Technological Disasters “Chornobyl-Fukushima Union” participated in the general audience and meeting with Leo XIV at the Vatican.
During the meeting, members of the Ukrainian delegation shared personal testimonies about their participation in the participation in the cleanup efforts following the Chernobyl disaster, speaking about the hardships they endured and the challenges they faced.
Following the general audience, the delegation visited the Embassy, where they met with Ambassador Andrii Yurash.
The head of the “Chornobyl-Fukushima Union”, Andriy Kulchytskyi, on behalf of all members of the delegation, expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to receive the blessing of Pope Leo XIV for all Chornobyl liquidators.
The meeting with the Pontiff became a sign of gratitude and respect for the heroism of those who, at the cost of their own health and lives, fulfilled their duty to Ukraine and the world.
