In New York, on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See.
During the talks, sincere gratitude was expressed to Pope Leo XIV for his constant spiritual support for Ukraine, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Vatican, particularly in the field of care for Ukrainian children.
Special emphasis was placed on the mission of Cardinal Matteo Zuppi and the important role of the Holy See in the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and deported children.
Ukraine looks forward with hope to the apostolic visit of Pope Leo XIV to our country, which would represent a powerful source of spiritual support for millions of believers in this time of full-scale war.
The readiness to continue joint efforts with the Holy See, aimed at alleviating human suffering and advancing peace, was also confirmed.
Finally, the invitation for Archbishop Gallagher to visit Ukraine at a convenient time was reiterated.
