Ambassador of Ukraine, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chair-in-Office on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination also focussing on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians and members of other religions Tetiana Izhevska met with leaders of the religious community of Sikhs in Italy. The sides discussed the situation of the Sikhs community in Italy, interreligious dialogue, cooperation with other religious minorities etc.
During a conversation with the Personal Representative Sikhs community leaders expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation with regional authorities in Italy and noted the relative absence of discrimination and any restrictions associated with their religion.
Ambassador of Ukraine also became acquainted with the peculiarities of the community and stated that the experience of integration of Sikhs into the European society may be useful for members of other religious communities and ethnic minorities.
Note: Italy ranks second among EU member states on the number of members of the Sikhs religious community, which, according to official data, counts more than 80 thousand people.
