Santa Sede in lutto per l’Italia e il mondo

Dal Vaticano l’adesione all’iniziativa dei sindaci italiani di esporre le bandiere a mezz’asta per ricordare le vittime del Covid-19.

Un mezzogiorno di lutto e il tricolore che si abbassa. I Comuni italiani hanno scelto di ricordare il 31 marzo le vittime del coronavirus e di “onorare il sacrificio e l’impegno degli operatori sanitari”, facendo scendere la bandiera a mezz’asta. Un gesto che trova sponda nella vicinanza della Santa Sede, pronta a fare altrettanto con il proprio drappo per esprimere "vicinanza alle vittime della pandemia in Italia e nel mondo, alle loro famiglie e a quanti generosame lottano per porvi fine".

Holy See in mourning for Italy and for the world

In an expression of solidarity with Italy and the whole world, the Vatican is joining an initiative promoted by Italian mayors to fly flags at half-mast in memory of victims of Covid-19.

Cities and towns throughout Italy are flying their flags at half-mast at midday on Tuesday, 31 March, in mourning for the victims of Covid-19, and to honour “the sacrifice and commitment of healthcare workers”.
