In the framework of the official visit of the Ukrainian President to the Vatican, President’s wife Maryna Poroshenko visited the residence and the hospital of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Ms. Poroshenko emphasized that the Sovereign Military Order of Malta had a reputation of a powerful mediator in the resolution of international conflicts and effective assistant in crisis situations. “Assistance and goodness have no borders, nationality or religion. It is a state of soul and heart. When people cannot stay aside, they have one goal – to help a fellow man,” the President’s wife said.
Maryna Poroshenko visited the neurological department and department of rehabilitation after road accidents, coma and polytrauma. The President’s wife familiarized with modern methods of treatment of neurological diseases and saw the effectiveness of their application with her own eyes.
As a sign of cooperation with the office of the President’s wife, the officials of the hospital conveyed wheelchairs for Ukrainian militaries wounded in the ATO area.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, Ms. Poroshenko thanked the Sovereign Military Order of Malta for their assistance in the course of the Revolution of Dignity and in times of war in Ukraine. “Your hospital struggles for lives and health of people every minute, defends Faith and Goodness. And it is today that Ukraine is going through times of struggle between Good and Evil,” Maryna Poroshenko noted.
Ms. Poroshenko stated that peaceful life was a topical issue not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire Europe: “Terrorist attacks in Paris have become a painful reminder of the value of peace, decisive struggle against terrorism and necessity of unity for the sake of the future. I believe that unity multiplies our forces”.
The President’s wife and the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Ukraine agreed on Ms. Poroshenko’s participation in the conference that will be held in spring 2016 in Kyiv. The conference will be dedicated to the projects and programs of activity of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Ukraine and the world.
