President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that political obstacles for the establishment of the visa-free regime with the EU in 2016 were eliminated and Ukraine will do everything to fulfill the required technical conditions in time.
At the press availability in Riga, following the Eastern Partnership Summit, the President noted that the report of the assessment mission would have been provided by December 15 and all technical conditions would have been fulfilled by that date. “We will do everything to achieve this,” the President stressed.
Petro Poroshenko informed that the EU had praised the progress of Ukraine and Georgia in the fulfillment of the Plan on the visa regime liberalization. “It was clearly stated today that we still had to solve some technical issues related to the security of IDs and the introduction of ID cards that would replace the internal passport,” the President said. Also, Ukraine must ensure efficient implementation of the system for integrated control over the borders, when the border guards will have all information about a person or a cargo, from Interpol to Phytosanitary Service.
The President has instructed to hold a meeting on the issues of managing migration, combating money laundering and financing of terrorism, combating drug trafficking, protection of personal data, policy on asylum, fighting against human trafficking, ensuring human rights, including the rights of minorities, and combating corruption.
